The Swindon Dragon Boat Race is held annually at the Coate Water Country Park on the last Sunday of June, and with over 18 teams of 17 people taking part in the racing and many side stalls and attractions available too, this rally is a great family day out.
Competitors are encouraged to support their own charities and each year this raises thousands of pounds to support them.
|The Bruce Trust is a great example of a local charity making a real difference to disadvantaged and less able members of our community. The Trust own and operate a number of specially outfitted barges which travel along the Kennet & Avon Canal. Trained crew members from Swindon Phoenix Rotary Club hire out these fabulous craft and provide day trips to various invited groups from in and around Swindon, our guest are encouraged fully participate in their day by steering, operate the locks and helping with docking and launching the barge.

The group meets up on the 2nd Saturday of each month for an informal coffee morning and the occasional outing or event. We also enter a team, the Purple Paddlers into the Dragon Boat event each year to raise some funds and awareness of the illness.
|This is a very popular event for adults and kids alike, even the occasional pooch can be seen fitted out with reindeer antlers! With over 400 participants each year this is certainly a bit of a spectacle. The Santa’s are not required to run, although some are in a bit of a hurry as they have deliveries to make. All participants are welcome to Run, Walk, Power Walk, Waddle & chat, Ride in pushchairs or drag their owners around on a lead.
To see you on your way for the 5km trek around Lydiard Park we have a great Zumba Warm-up to shake off the chill and make sure you’re all Christmassy and ready to go.
